Explore & Experience

Stone cone rooftops of the Trulli. The silvery green of the olive trees and deep terracotta of the earth. White Hilltop villages that haven't changed in centuries. Welcome to your home away from home — where the soul of Puglia meets the stillness of the Adriatic coast. This isn’t just a vacation — it’s a return to what matters.

Things to Do During Your Stay

Ostuni - the White City

Explore the huge Saturday open air market - this is our local department store, or the regular antiques market. Explore the narrow streets of the old town and piazzas, have a drink while taking in the panoramic views of the Adriatic coastline, or maybe while sitting on beanbags on old stone steps. Break from the warmth of the day with a refreshing indoor lunch.

Lecce - the ‘Florence of the South’

Known as the “Florence of the South”, Lecce is celebrated for its beautiful Baroque architecture, elegant squares and vibrant café culture. Spend the day exploring historic landmarks, browsing artisan shops and enjoying the distinctive flavours and traditions of the Salento region.

Grottaglie - the Home of Pugliese Ceramics

Renowned for its centuries-old ceramics tradition, Grottaglie is the perfect destination for lovers of art and craftsmanship. Explore the famous Ceramics Quarter, visit artisan workshops and discover the charm of this authentic Puglian town.

A day trip to Matera

Explore one of Italy’s most remarkable cities, famous for its ancient cave dwellings and UNESCO-listed Sassi districts, Matera combines fascinating history, stunning views and a unique atmosphere. Wander through its historic streets, discover rock-hewn churches. It’s dramatic setting and timeless character make it one of southern Italy’s most unforgettable destinations.

Relax by the sea

Dive into hidden turquoise pockets tucked between rocky cliffs. Relax at a beach club on golden sand. There are so many to choose, and then there are the kinds of places you discover by accident — and talk about for years. Bring a towel (or borrow one of ours), a good book (we also have a few), and no plans.

Coastal Charm in Monopoli

Monopoli is a bustling picturesque coastal town where historic charm meets the Adriatic Sea. Stroll through the atmospheric old town, relax along the waterfront, enjoy fresh seafood and soak up the laid-back seaside atmosphere.

A Short Stroll Away

Centro Storico

Wander the beautiful Centro Storico (old town) streets and piazzas, explore the artwork hanging above you and written on the walls. Be sure to sample Cisternino’s famous bombette, a much-loved local speciality. As evening falls, the town comes alive with a vibrant atmosphere, perfect for an aperitivo, dinner or ‘La Passeggiata’ (an evening stroll).

Explore Local Markets

Experience the atmosphere of local life at Cisternino’s weekly Monday morning market, when the streets fill with stalls selling fresh produce, local delicacies, clothing and household goods. For something truly unique, browse the monthly Sunday antique market , where you may discover vintage treasures, collectables and distinctive souvenirs.

Explore the countryside

Enjoy gentle walks through the peaceful countryside directly from the property, following quiet lanes lined with olive groves and dry-stone walls. The surrounding area is perfect for a refreshing early morning run or a relaxing evening stroll as the sun sets over the Puglian landscape. Hire a bike locally and explore the beautiful network of country roads at your own pace.

A White Hilltop Town Time Forgot — And You’ll Never Want to Leave

Perched high in the sun-drenched hills of the Itria Valley, Cisternino is one of those places that quietly steals your heart. Whitewashed houses tumble along winding lanes, flowerpots spill from tiny balconies, and every corner seems to open onto another postcard-perfect piazza. Life moves slowly here — in the best possible way. Mornings begin with espresso (and probably a cornetto) at a café in the old town, afternoons drift by beneath olive trees, and evenings are made for long dinners under warm golden light.

Cisternino is considered one of Italy’s “most beautiful villages,” and it’s easy to see why. Its historic centre is wonderfully untouched, with medieval archways, stone staircases and little alleyways where locals still stop to chat from doorstep to doorstep. The town’s history stretches back thousands of years, shaped by Greek, Roman and Norman influences that still linger in its architecture and atmosphere.

What makes Cisternino so special is the feeling of authenticity. You’ll find butchers that cook fresh local meats over open flames, family-run osterias serving handmade orecchiette pasta, lively summer festivals in the piazza, and panoramic countryside views that seem to go on forever. From Valle d'Itria, beaches, vineyards and nearby towns like Ostuni and Alberobello are all within easy reach — making Villeta Uliveto the perfect base for discovering the quieter, more soulful side of Puglia.
